What is MahilaBol?
MahilaBol, the title itself reveals the complete effort and intent in mere two words. It thrusts upon the basic yet important aspect of women’s right, that is to ‘Speak Up’.
MahilaBol is a National Survey on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace, where the word ‘Mahila’ implies ‘Woman’, and ‘Bol’ ‘Speak Up’. Evidently, it is a platform for women to speak out by participating in the survey being initiated by HRhelpdesk® , Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India and United Nations Women – India.
Why MahilaBol?
Article 21 of the Constitution of India guarantees women the right to live with dignity, and the right to practice any profession, or to carry on any occupation, trade or business, in a safe environment, free from sexual harassment.With MahilaBol, we encourage women to share their workplace experiences and challenges without any apprehensions or fear of being probed. More importantly, it’s a conscious attempt to hear from women and invite them to express their views about an ideal workplace, which ensures basic hygiene of safety, respect and equality.
In simpler terms, MahilaBol intends to understand women’s needs in terms of issues impacting them and how best they can be addressed, so that they can continue to be a part of the workforce and provide valuable contribution to the economic growth of the country.
